Sacramento got on the board late in the second quarter when Pete Gardere hit a 63-yard punt for a single and Jim Crouch followed just over a minute later with a 42-yard field goal. In the second half, after a scoreless third quarter, Fleming counted a field goal from 37 yards out to make the score 13-4 with just over 6 minutes to play. Sacramento then waited until close to the last minute to score their only touchdown of the day, a 1-yard pass from QB David Archer to Rod Harris and Crouch closed out the scoring for the Gold Miners by hitting an 85-yard kickoff for a single to make the final score 13-12 for Edmonton. In this game, Henry “Gizmo” Williams broke the all-time record for Punt Return Yards as he ran back 7 for 113 yards, giving him a total of 6,427 to surpass Paul Bennett’s previous mark of 6,350 career yards.
