San Antonio traveled to Winnipeg for the first of two games to be played in Week 5. This game had potential to be a close game, as these two evenly matched teams were getting preparing to square off. Blue Bomber kicker Troy Westwood opened the scoring for Winnipeg hitting a 20 yard field goal. The only other scoring of the first quarter came when Westwood missed a 47 yard field goal attempt to record a single. Winnipeg capitalized on a San Antonio fumble, turning it into a 5 play drive for a touchdown. QB Sammy Garza capped the drive with a 1 yard run. Westwood hit the convert to make the score 11 to 0 for the Bombers. San Antonio got on the board in the second quarter as Todd Jordan punted into the end zone for a single. Later in the quarter Marcus Gates ran a Robert Cameron punt back 81 yards to score the Texans only touchdown of the game. Kicker Roman Anderson made the convert. Anderson tied the game before half time hitting a 36 yard field goal attempt. San Antonio took their first lead of the game early in the third quarter as Anderson hit his fourteenth field goal of the season. Westwood tied the game making good on a 27 yard attempt later in the third quarter. The Texans took the lead early in the fourth as the kickers dual continued. Anderson hit from 31 yards to maintain his perfect field goal percentage. The rest of the scoring belonged to Winnipeg. Westwood booted two more field goals, from 36 and 44 yards, to give the Blue Bombers the edge.
