Game Notes

Game Summary

B.C. played the second of three road games early this week at the SkyDome in Toronto against the Argonauts. A win for the Lions would put them in a tie with Calgary for the top spot in the Northern Division. Toronto opened the scoring on their first drive. Kicker Terry Baker sent a 42 yard field goal attempt through the uprights to give the Argos a 3 to 0 lead. B.C. got on the board when Lui Passaglia sent a 43 yard field goal attempt wide. Mike “Pinball” Clemons conceded the single. Clemons conceded another single after catching a 58 yard punt by Passaglia in the end zone. B.C. scored again on their next drive. Mike Trevathan caught a 19 yard pass from QB Danny McManus to end the 80 yard drive. Passaglia’s convert was good to give the Lions a 6 point lead. With time running out in the half Baker booted what proved to be Toronto’s final score of the game. His field goal attempt from 39 yards out left the Argos trailing by 3 at half time. The second half belonged to the Lions as they scored 10 more points and kept the Argos off the score sheet completely. Late in the third quarter B.C. slotback Yo Murphy took a McManus pass 78 yards for a touchdown. Passaglia put the convert through. The only scoring of the fourth quarter came again from the foot of the League’s All‐ time Leading Scorer Lui Passaglia. With 0:38 left in the game Passaglia put a 10 yard chip-shot threw the uprights for three. The 19 to 6 final score in B.C.’s favour moved the Lions into a tie with Calgary for first as they packed their bags en route to Winnipeg to round out their current road trip.
