Game Notes

Game Summary

Baltimore needed the win against Saskatchewan to lock up a playoff spot in the highly contested Southern Division. Saskatchewan on the other hand are in a battle of their own. With a tough schedule ahead of them, the Western ’Riders are fighting for a playoff berth. Baltimore opened the scoring midway through the first quarter. League rushing yards leader Mike Pringle carried the ball in from the 1-yard line for the major. Carlos Huerta kicked the convert. After moving the ball from their own 32-yard line the Roughriders had to settle for a 10 yard field goal by Dave Ridgway to end the drive. On the first play of the second quarter, Huerta missed a 39 yard field goal attempt but managed to score the single as Ulmer conceded the point. Pringle scored his second TD of the game to extend the Baltimore lead on a 4 yard running play. Huerta kicked the convert. Saskatchewan fought back with a touchdown pass from Tom Burgess to Donald Narcisse covering 5 yards. Ridgway kicked the convert. The ’Riders kept the momentum in the third quarter putting two field goals on the board to take the lead. Ridgway split the uprights from 31 and 34 yards to give the Roughriders a 1 point lead going into the fourth quarter. Huerta took the lead back for the Stallions with a 45 yard field goal. Saskatchewan countered following a Pringle fumble with a 10 yard pass from Burgess to Narcisse for a TD. These two hooked up for a two-point conversion giving the ’Riders an 6 point lead. Baltimore tied the game as Tracy Ham broke a running play 45 yards for a touchdown. Huerta’s convert took the lead for the Stallions. After being pinned near their own end zone, Matich was forced to concede a safety giving Baltimore a 3 point lead. The Stallions sealed the victory when Josh Miller blasted a 63 yard punt out of the end zone for the single. The win locked up a spot for the Stallions in the 1995 playoffs.
