Game Notes

Game Summary

Hamilton totally dominated the B.C. Lions this weekend sending a message to the rest of the South Division to look out for them in playoffs this year. Hamilton assured themselves of finishing at least fourth in the Division with the win. Earl Winfield got things going for the Tiger-Cats. His 53 yard TD pass from Steve Taylor and Paul Osbaldiston’s ensuing convert were the only points scored in the first quarter. Osbaldiston put a field goal attempt through from 23 yards out early in the second quarter giving Hamilton a 10-0 lead. Minutes later Kalin Hall caught a 12 yard pass from Taylor to record the first of four TDs on the day. Osbaldiston kicked the convert. Hamilton’s next score came on a 44 yard off-tackle run by Hall. Osbaldiston’s convert put the Tabbies ahead by 24. B.C. did get on the board before the end of the half. Yo Murphy took an 11 yard pass from Danny McManus into the end zone for the major. Lui Passaglia kicked the convert. Hamilton punter Hank Ilesic took advantage of the wind sending a punt 78 yards into the end zone giving Hamilton an 18 point lead at half-time. The rout continued in the third quarter. Osbaldiston kicked a 25 yard field goal opening second half scoring. Hall recorded his third TD of the game a couple of drives later on a 14 yard pass from Taylor. Obaldiston kicked the convert. llesic notched his second single of the game with an 83 yard kickoff into the end zone. Newly acquired B.C. running back John Leach got on the board with a 1 yard TD rush. Passaglia’s convert made B.C.’s final score 14. Hall took the ball across the goal line once more for the Tabbies. His 1 yard rushing TDs tied a Hamilton record for most TDs in one game. Osbaldiston’s convert gave Hamilton 43 points on the day.
