Game Summary

The Memphis Mad Dogs traveled to the SkyDome in Toronto needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. It’s no surprise then, that they dominated the game en route to a 28 to 10 win. A slow first quarter saw only one field goal scored. Memphis’ Nick Mystrom sent a 21 yard shot through for the score. Memphis RB Gary Anderson extended the Dogs lead carrying the ball over from the 1-yard line. Mystrom kicked the convert. Late in the quarter Memphis struck again. WR Joseph Horn caught a 22 yard touchdown pass from Damon Allen for the major. Mystrom’s second convert attempt was good. The Mad Dogs took a 17 to 0 lead into the locker room at half-time. Memphis carried the momentum into the third opening scoring with a 12 yard Mystrom field goal. Midway through the third, Alfred Shipman carried the ball in from the 18 scoring Memphis’ third TD of the game. Mystrom’s convert split the uprights. The Argonauts put their first points on the board late in the third when Terry Baker hit a 42 yard field goal. Memphis scored one more point for the night when Mystrom missed a 28 yard field goal attempt but sent the ball through the end zone. The League’s leading all‐purpose yardage leader, “Pinball” Clemons, scored Toronto’s only touchdown late in the game. He carried the ball in from the 1-yard line to take advantage of an interception by Joe Mero. Baker kicked the convert but it was too little too late.
