Game Summary

The 2-0 Hamilton Tiger-Cats travelled down the highway to meet their longtime rivals the Toronto Argonauts. The Argonauts, however came up on the short end of a 25-9 decision in front of 27,373 fans at SkyDome. The 2 teams traded FGs in the 1st quarter as Hamilton kicker Paul Osbaldiston got the Tabbies on the board first, connecting on a 38 yarder, while his Toronto counterpart, Lance Chomyc, was good from 45 yards out. The “Osbaldiston Factor” accounted for all of the scoring in the 2nd quarter as he connected on FGs from 17 and 20 yards out while chipping in with a single to make the score 10-3 in favour of Hamilton at half-time. Ozzy opened up the 2nd-half scoring with a single off a 40-yard FG attempt which gave the ’Cats an 11-3 lead. Lubo Zizakovic and rookie Greg Eaglin teamed up to put the game out of reach as Zizakovic blocked a Chomyc FG attempt and Eaglin scooped it up and scampered 75 yards for the major. Toronto scored their only TD of the game on a 27-yard TD pass by Tracy Ham to Robert Clark. John Hood sealed the victory with just 37 seconds left as he ran in from 8 yards out to make the final score 25-9 in favour of the Tiger-Cats.
