Game Summary

The Sacramento Gold Miners scored 31 1st-half points and went on to defeat the visiting Tiger-Cats before 14,656 fans at Hornet Field. Sacramento QB David Archer had another outstanding day, completing 22-of-38 passes for 370 yards with 3 TDs. Carl Parker was the Gold Miners’ leading pass catcher as he hauled in 6 passes for 121 yards and 1 TD. The Gold Miners got on the board 3:22 into the 1st quarter as WR Freeman Baysinger capped off a 6-play drive hauling in an Archer pass for a 31-yard TD. Carl Parker made it 14-0 as he grabbed a 24-yard strike from Archer. After a Sacramento single, Hamilton’s Paul Osbaldiston booted a 20-yard FG to close out the 1st quarter scoring with the Gold Miners on top 1 5 3 Jim Crouch booted a 25-yarder to put the Miners up by 15 then Sacramento LB Paschall Davis stepped in front of a Don McPherson toss and returned it 39 yards for the TD. Crouch then added a 13-yard and 31-yard FGs to round out the 1st half scoring putting the Gold Miners on top 31-3. Crouch opened up the 3rd quarter scoring with a single then it was Baysinger hauling in a 30-yard pass from Archer for his 2nd major of the game. Mike Oliphant capped off a 9-play drive by running it in from 4 yards out making the score 46-3 in favour of Sacramento after 3 periods. Hamilton scored the only points of the 4th quarter as WR Earl Winfield hooked up with Eros Sanchez for a 15-yard TD on the final play of the game making the final 46-10 for the Miners.
