Game Notes

Game Summary

In a game played in front of 24,789 fans at B.C. Place, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats were just not able to keep pace with the high scoring B.C. Lions as they were defeated 55-25. Hamilton scored first on 2 plays from the leg of K Paul Osbaldiston as he kicked a single and then followed it with a 14-yard field goal but B.C. came on strong to close out the 1st quarter. Cory Philpot carried the ball in from 3 yards out to start what would be a great day for the Lion RB, for the first of his 3 TDs in the game. Philpot then scored again to open the 2nd quarter from 3 yards away while his counterpart in the backfield, Sean Millington went in from 5 yards out to make the score 21-4 at just over the halfway mark of the 2nd quarter, before Hamilton was able to answer when RB Dave Dinnall broke free for a 20-yard TD rush. However, WR Matt Clark caught a 9-yard TD pass from QB Danny Barrett late in the half to make the score 28-11 for the Lions. To begin the 3rd quarter, K Lui Passaglia of the Lions hit two consecutive field goals from 12 yards away to increase the Lions’ lead. Hamilton pivot Don McPherson countered with a TD rush from 1 yard out but the Lions came right back when Clark brought down his 2nd TD catch, and Philpot scored his 3rd TD of the day, in addition to his 4 kickoff returns for 164 yards with a long of 61. Hamilton scored their final TD of the day when Dinnall scored his 2nd of the game. The Lions then came back with one of their own when Ryan Hanson rushed in to finish the scoring and the Tiger-Cats and make the score 55-25 in favour of the Leos.
