In Calgary on Friday, the Calgary Stampeders played host to Hamilton in a game that saw the Stampeders run over the Tiger-Cats by a score of 26-3 in front of 29,817 fans at McMahon Stadium. The game was dominated by Calgary the whole way through and their defence held the Tiger-Cats scoreless until the fourth quarter. Calgary got on the board when K Mark McLoughlin kicked a 34-yard field goal through the uprights and followed that up when FB Andy McVey rumbled in from 1 yard out to make the score 10-0 in the early going. To close out the 1st, McLoughlin hit his 2nd of 4 FGs on the day, this time from 51 yards away; he then hit again for the only score of the 2nd frame when he hit a 30-yarder to put the Stamps up 16-0 at the half. Calgary opened the scoring in the second half when McLoughlin hit for a 33-yard effort which RB Tony Stewart backed up when he plunged through from 2 yards away to make the count 26-0 after 3 quarters. Hamilton scored their only points when K Paul Osbaldiston prevented the shutout by kicking a 43-yard field goal of his own with just under 3 minutes remaining to make the final 26-3 for the Stampeders and improve their record to 12-1 for the season.
