Game Summary

It was a kickers’ contest on a chilly day at Winnipeg Stadium as neither the Argonauts nor the Blue Bombers scored a touchdown on the day. Troy Westwood scored the only points by either team in the opening frame as he booted a 29-yard FG to put the home squad up 3-0. In the 2nd, Lance Chomyc put Toronto on the board with a single on a missed FG. Westwood added to his totals with a 31-yard FG and a single on a missed FG. At 12:06 Chomyc connected from 41 yards out to pull the Argonauts to within three points at the half. Leading 7-4 heading into the 3rd quarter, Westwood hoofed a 40-yard FG and Chomyc replied with a single, missing another attempt, this one from 39 yards out. In the final quarter, Westwood recorded a single and Chomyc connected from 38 yards out for a FG, before P Bob Cameron of Winnipeg rounded out the scoring by notching a single and conceded a safety with just 43 seconds to go in the contest. The Blue Bombers now have a bye and await the winner of the Eastern Semi-Final game. The Toronto Argonauts miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
