If this game was any indication, the Calgary Stampeders seem to be a team on a mission in 1995. 24,861 Rough Rider fans went home disappointed as the visitors from “Cow Town” defeated their hometown heroes by a decisive 57-7 score. Calgary got on the board first as P Tony Martino found the end zone from 45 yards out. The first quarter ended with the Stamps on top by that single point. It was in the second quarter that things got out of hand with Calgary putting up 35 points, the second most ever in CFL history. RB Shawn Daniels notched the first of eight Calgary TDs, plunging in from 1 yard out at 0:48 into the second frame. The Rough Riders then narrowed the gap to just 5 as PK Terry Baker booted a 39 yard FG at 1:08. Stampeder QB Doug Flutie then took complete control of this contest hooking up with SB Allen Pitts at 6:37 to put the Stamps up by 11. The Mark McLoughlin convert, one of eight on the day made it a 12-point lead. Less than a minute later DL Srecko Zizakovic corralled a Danny Barrett pass and returned it for the major. Following a Terry Baker single, Flutie was at it again, this time taking it in himself from 1 yard out at 13:34. They were not done here however as Flutie teamed up with SB Dave Sapunjis for a 33 yard pass and run TD to round out the first half scoring. At the end of one half it was the Stampeders up by 32 at 36-4. Flutie opened up the third quarter scoring at 2:48 as he carried the ball himself for his second TD of the game. The Riders scored their only points of the quarter as Martino retreated into his own end zone to concede the safety. With just 1:26 left in the third period, Flutie hooked up with Pitts once again, this one a 21 yard effort for the slotback’s second TD of the game giving the Stamps a 50-2 lead going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, reserve QB Jeff Garcia came on in relief of Flutie and threw his first TD pass of the season to Sapunjis from 6 yards away at 10:45 of the final frame. Ottawa closed out the scoring at 12:51 as Baker recorded a 75 yard punting single. As the final gun sounded it was the Stampeders 57, the Riders 7
