With San Antonio holding on to second place in the Southern Division by two points and Ottawa struggling so far this season it is not surprising that the Texans dominated much of the game. San Antonio QB David Archer opened the scoring with a 2 yard pass to Billy Hess for the TD. The League’s second leading point getter, Roman Anderson, kicked the convert. Anderson notched another point later in the quarter as he missed a 26 yard field goal through the end zone for a single. San Antonio continued to roll as Archer hit Mark Stock with a 30 yard touchdown pass and Anderson scored the convert. Ottawa got on the board for the first time in the game with 2:11 left in the quarter. Andre Ware connected with Odessa Turner for a 28 yard passing touchdown. Wayne Lammle kicked the convert for Ottawa. San Antonio took advantage of an Ottawa fumble to record 7 more points before the end of the quarter. Troy Mills was the recipient of Archer’s third TD pass of the game. This one covering 13 yards. Anderson kicked his third convert of the day to make the score 22 to 7 for the Texans at half-time. Ottawa came out strong in the second half with Ware and Nigel Williams hooking up on a 76 yard touchdown play. Following Lammle’s convert, the Texan defence shut down the Rough Riders for the rest of the game. San Antonio continued to roll. Anderson sent a 16 yard field goal attempt through the uprights for his first three pointer of the game. Archer tossed his fourth TD pass of the game to Saunders for a 23 yard strike. Anderson’s convert attempt was good. In the fourth quarter, Malcolm Frank intercepted Ware and returned the ball 46 yards for a touchdown. Anderson followed up the convert with a 32 yard field goal extending the Texans lead to 28 points. Backup QB Jimmy Kemp picked up where Archer left off hitting Myron Wise with a 37 yard touchdown pass. Anderson’s convert gave San Antonio the victory by a 35 point margin.
