The Liberty Bowl in Memphis Tennessee hosted the game between the home town Mad Dogs and the visiting Ottawa Rough Riders. Both teams could not afford to lose any more games this season, especially Memphis, who is in the thick of the tight South Division playoff race. Ottawa kicker Wayne Lammle opened the scoring with a 40 yard field goal. Memphis countered with a touchdown minutes later. Gary Anderson took a 16 yard pass from Damon Allen in for the score. Nick Mystrom kicked the point after. Ottawa fought to a 1 point deficit at the end of the first quarter when Lammle sent a 44 yard shot through the uprights for 3. Memphis punter Peter Gardere opened scoring in the second quarter with a 61 yard punt into the end zone for a single. Mystrom began an outstanding day kicking field goals capping Memphis’ next three possessions with scores. His attempts from 26, 32, and 34 yards put the Mad Dogs ahead by 11 at the half. Early in the third quarter Lammle put one more point on the board for Ottawa sending a 58 yard punt into the end zone. For Memphis, Mystrom sent three more field goal attempts through to round out Memphis’ scoring. His last three attempts came from 51, 29, and 30 yards out. The win leaves Memphis 2 points behind Birmingham and San Antonio with only three weeks left in the 1995 Regular Season.
