Game Notes

Game Summary

A rematch of last years Grey Cup took place in Baltimore this weekend. This time around the tables turned in favour of Baltimore as they kicked a last minute field goal to win the game. Baltimore punter Josh Miller opened the scoring with a 60 yard single. A minute later Baltimore kicker Carlos Huerta sent a 49 yard field goal through. Huerta scored on another field goal attempt before the end of the quarter making good on a 35 yard attempt. The Stallions lead was extended to 10 points when Huerta sent his third field goal through on a 40 yard attempt. B.C. got going minutes later. Lui Passaglia sent a 47 yard field goal through bringing the Lions deficit to 7 points. Baltimore got their first TD of the game on a 10 yard passing play from Tracy Ham to Chris Armstrong. Huerta kicked the convert. As time ran out in the first half, Charles Gordon intercepted a pass from Ham and returned it 51 yards for the major. B.C. scored the only points of the third when Passaglia sent a 20 field goal through. Stallion receiver Chris Armstrong scored his second TD of the game on a 21 yard pass from Ham to extend Baltimore’s lead. Huerta’s convert put the Stallions ahead by 11. After missing a week due to injury, Cory Philpot made his presence known with a 2 yard touchdown run to bring B.C. back into the game. QB Giulio Caravatta’s two-point convert attempt failed leaving the Lions trailing by 5. Huerta added to the Baltimore lead when he scored a single on a missed 50 yard field goal attempt. B.C. tied the game when Philpot scored his second rushing touchdown of the game. He carried the ball in from the 7-yard line for the major. Passaglia kicked the convert giving B.C. their first lead of the game with only 2:22 remaining to play. Baltimore showed why they are on top of the South Division the rest of the way. Ham steadily moved the ball up field using up the clock. He gave Huerta excellent field position for a game winning field goal attempt with only 0:11 to play. Huerta made no mistake sending the ball through snatching the win away from the struggling B.C. Lions.
