Game Summary

It was a contest pitting David against Goliath as the 10-1 Argonauts traveled west to take on the 2-9 Lions. The Argonauts entered the game sporting the League’s top rated offence and a rock solid defence. However, this Lions are not to be taken lightly as they had shown continual improvement under QB Damon Allen. SB Matt Clark and Allen got the Leo’s on the board 5:39 into the opening quarter when they connected for a 4 yard touchdown pass. Passaglia added the first of five converts for the night. The Argonauts closed the gap to 2 as the Lions conceded a safety at 10:54 and, subsequently, K Mike Vanderjagt booted a 19 yard field goal to round out the first quarter scoring. Clark recorded his second TD of the game at 3:19 into the second quarter, this one a 12 yard strike from Allen. The convert increased B.C.’s lead to 9. Vanderjagt cut the lead to 6 at 11:57 when he was good from 45 yards away. However the Lions’ dominance continued, with just 3 seconds remaining in the first half, WR Ted Alford ran under a 19 yard Allen pass for the touchdown. With the Passaglia convert, the Lions carried a 21-8 lead into the locker room at half-time. Vanderjagt opened up the second half scoring with a 48 yard field goal but the Lions roared back when RB Sean Millington plunged in from 1 yard out.
