In the final regular season game for both teams, offence was ever present as the Western Division leading Stampeders got on track in the second half and rolled to a convincing 46-23 victory. The Green ’Riders jumped out to an early 13-0 lead thanks to two Frank Jagas FGs and a 1 yard Robert Mimbs TD. The Stampeders then put up 9 consecutive points via the foot of K Mark McLoughlin and went into the locker room at half-time trailing by a 13-9 score. However, they came out guns-a-blazin’ in the third quarter as RB Kelvin Anderson and SB Allen Pitts recorded back-to-back TDs. McLoughlin added his fourth FG of the day before the ’Riders would get on the second half tally sheet. Saskatchewan QB Jimmy Kemp found WR Curtis Mayfield alone for a 21 yard major. However, the Stamps offence continued to roll and QB Danny Barrett rounded out the third quarter scoring with a 45 yard TD strike to WR Travis Moore. After three periods of play, the score was 33-20 in favour of the Stampeders. Jagas opened up the fourth quarter scoring with a 32 yard effort however this would be all of the scoring the ’Riders would muster on this day as the Stamps tallied up 13 unanswered points, 6 on McLoughlin’s fifth and sixth FGs of the day and another 6 thanks to FB Farell Duclair’s 1 yard TD run making the final 46-23 in favour of the Stamps. The Stampeders next action will come on Sunday, November 17 when they tangle with the winner of the Western Division Semi-final.
