Game Notes

Game Summary

The Alouettes entered this match-up with hopes of improving their record to 8-3, while the Tiger-Cats were looking to avenge their Labour Day loss at the hands of the Toronto Argonauts. Montreal opened the scoring at 3:44 of the first period when WR Millard Coleman corralled a 13-yard Tracy Ham pass for the major. K Terry Baker added the convert and the Alouettes were up by a 7-0 margin. They increased that margin to 9-0 at 8:35 when Hamilton’s Kenny Wilhite conceded a two-point safety. The Als rounded out the first quarter, scoring on the final play of the period when LB Ray Bernard blocked a Paul Osbaldiston punt and returned it 28-yards for the TD. Baker’s convert made the score 16-0 after 1 quarter of play. The Tiger-Cats got on the scoresheet at 4:37 of the second frame when Osbaldiston split the uprights from 28 yards out. The Tabbies scored their first major of the game following a Baker single when QB Rickey Foggie, who was making his first start of the year, called his own number for an 11-yard TD. Osbaldiston’s convert closed out the first half scoring with Montreal in front by a 17-10 margin. The second half belonged to the Alouettes. However it wasn’t until 13:55 of the third period that they parlayed this momentum into points as WR Chris Armstrong teamed up with Ham for a 35-yard major. The Baker convert increased the Montreal lead to 24-10. Baker added an 80-yard punting single at 2:55 to put Montreal up by 15 and less than a minute later at 3:31, DB Harold Nash stepped in front of a Foggie pass and returned it 42 yards for the TD. Following his successful covert attempt, Baker then rounded out the games scoring with a 39-yard FG making the final from Ivor Wynne Stadium, Montreal 38, and Hamilton 18.
