Game Notes

Game Summary

The West Division leading Edmonton Eskimos traveled to B.C. Place Stadium this week for a match against the second place B.C. Lions. The game started as a tight defensive battle with neither team scoring in the first quarter. The defensive battle continued until 2:26 of the second quarter when B.C. QB Damon Allen found wide-out Larry Thompson in the end zone for a 15-yard TD. K Lui Passaglia’s convert was good giving the Lions a 7- point advantage. The Lions’ lead was doubled later in the quarter when Allen scrambled into the end zone from 6 yards out at 10:53. Passaglia’s convert was good putting sending the Lions into the locker room with a 14-0 half-time lead. Edmonton finally got on the board in the third quarter when K Sean Fleming’s 44‐yard FG attempt sailed wide right scoring the single point. An interception by CB Leonard Humphries set up a Passaglia 10-yard FG at 8:51. Passaglia increased the Lions’ lead to 19 points in the final stanza of play when his 41-yard FG was successful at 3:31 of the fourth quarter. The Lions continued to dominate and were rewarded with another major when RB Cory Philpot busted in from the 1-yard line at 9:20. Passaglia’s third convert of the game was good closing out the games scoring giving the Lions a 27-1 victory. The win draws the Lions to within one game of the Eskimos in the very tough Western Division.
