Toronto jumped out to an early lead when RB Robert Drummond ran the ball in from the 3-yard line for his League leading 17th TD of the season at 4:49 of the first quarter. K Mike Vanderjagt’s convert was good. Vanderjagt added to their lead at 12:32 of the first when his 16-yard FG split the uprights. Hamilton scored their first points of the game when K Paul Osbaldiston booted a 43-yard FG closing out the first quarter scoring. The FG cut the Toronto lead to 10-3. In the second quarter Toronto continued to apply pressure to the Hamilton defence and at 3:39, increased the Toronto lead to 13-3 with a 43-yard FG. He further added to this lead with FGs from 17 and 13 yards closing out the first-half scoring with Toronto on top by a 19-3 margin. Toronto continued to light up the scoreboard in the third quarter as QB Doug Flutie hit SB Derrell Mitchell from 5 yards out for the first passing major of the game. Vanderjagt’s convert was successful. Flutie was also involved in the games next score when he found SB Duane Dmytryshyn in the end zone for a 16-yard major. Vanderjagt’s convert attempt was good increasing the Toronto lead to 30 points. In the fourth quarter Hamilton scored their first major of the night when QB Rickey Foggie teamed up with WR Burt Thornton for a 45-yard reception. The ensuing two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful keeping the score at 33-9 in favour of Toronto. Vanderjagt closed out the games scoring with a 59-yard punting single. The final from Toronto was the Argonauts 34, the Tiger-Cats 9.
