Game Summary

31,909 ’Rider faithful turned out in hopes that their hometown team could keep their hopes of finishing second in the Western Division alive. However it was the Tiger-Cats who opened the scoring at 7:46 of the first quarter when RB Yonel Jourdain ran under a QB Mike Cawley pass for a 6-yard major. K Paul Osbaldiston’s convert attempt was successful and the Tabbies went into the second quarter with a 7-0 lead. Saskatchewan got on the board at 4:44 of the second quarter when K Paul McCallum hit on a 16-yard FG. This rounded out the first half scoring with Hamilton on top by a 7-3 margin. McCallum opened the second half scoring at 3:15 with a 21‐yard FG to cut the Hamilton lead to just 1. The ’Riders then took the lead at 7:53 when WR Don Narcisse teamed up with QB Kevin Mason for a 26-yard major. The McCallum convert put the ’Riders up by 6. Osbaldiston rounded out the third quarter scoring with 2 singles to narrow the Saskatchewan lead by 4. The Tiger-Cats went in front at 1:07 of the fourth when WR Andrew Grigg pulled up and threw a 30-yard rope to fellow WR Burt Thornton. The Osbaldiston convert made the score 19-13 for the Tabbies. McCallum cut the lead to 19-14 with a single before Narcisse scored his second TD of the game off a 36-yard pass from QB Reggie Slack. RB Mike Saunders’ 2-point convert rounded out the games scoring as the ’Riders kept their hopes of finishing second alive.
