This week in the West Division Semi-Final to see who meet Edmonton next Sunday. Saskatchewan opened the scoring off the foot of K Paul McCallum who nailed a 18-yard FG at 9:39 of the first quarter. Then in the second quarter FB Shawn Daniels rumbled in from the 1-yard line at 4:51. McCallum was good on the convert pacing the ’Riders to an early 10-0 lead. Calgary however, battled back as K Mark McLoughlin struck a 21-yard FG to put the Stamps on the board. Wide-out Donald Narcisse ended any thoughts of a Calgary rally in the first half as he hooked up with QB Reggie Slack for a 39-yard TD reception at 14:45. McCallum’s convert made the score 17-3 in favour of the visitors going into the dressing rooms at halfâtime. The second half in contrast was a high scoring affair as McLoughlin hit an 11-yard FG at 4:21. Then McCallum nailed a 35-yard FG at 7:29. Calgary’s first TD of the night was a 3-yard toss by QB Dave Dickenson, replacing an injured Jeff Garcia, to SB Vince Danielsen at 12:06. McLoughlin’s convert made the score 20-13 in favour of the ’Riders entering the final period of play. Just 17 seconds in RB Mike Saunders found the end zone at the conclusion of a 3-yard run. McCallum was good on the convert. The see-saw battle continued as Pitts hauled in a 21-yard TD pass at 3:50. McLoughlin nailed the convert but later missed a 53-yard FG attempt scoring only a single. Dickenson later called his own number on a 14-yard rushing play that put the Stamps ahead by one after McLoughlin’s convert at 12:15. Slack re-established the Saskatchewan lead as he ran ball in from the 17-yard line with under a minute to play in the game. The ensuing 2-point convert play went awry however, as CB Alfred Jordan intercepted Slack’s pass and carried 115-yards for the 2-point score to bring the Red and White within a FG of tying the game. The Stamps were unable to move the ball in final minutes of play however, leaving Saskatchewan with a 33-30 lead as the final buzzer sounded.
