Game Notes

Game Summary

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats hosted the BC Lions this week hoping to rebound from a loss to their arch-rival, the Toronto Argonauts. Things looked good for the Tabbies early in the game when K Paul Osbaldiston nailed a 48-yard FG giving his team a 3-0 lead at 4:51 of the first quarter. K Lui Passaglia responded for the Lions at 10:38 when his 26-yard FG evened the game at three. Hamilton regained the lead before the end of the quarter, however, when QB Danny McManus threw a 4-yard strike to WR Bobby Olive for the game’s first major at 13:58. Osbaldiston’s convert gave Hamilton a 10-3 advantage heading into the second quarter. Both defences played well in the second stanza, limiting their opponents’ offensive opportunities. Passaglia’s 75-yard punting single at 14:04 was the only scoring play in the quarter cutting Hamilton’s lead to 10-4 at the half. At 9:12 of the third period Passaglia continued to chip away at Hamilton’s lead when his 46-yard FG attempt sailed wide scoring a single point. At 13:26, however, RB Ronald Williams powered his way into the end zone from 3 yards out extending Hamilton’s lead to 12 points. In the final stanza of play Passaglia added another FG from 26 yards out at 4:06 but Osbaldiston’s 72-yard punting single rounded out the scoring in the game to make the final 18-8 for the Tiger-Cats to the delight of the fans at Ivor Wynne Stadium. The win bumps Hamiltonā€˜s record to a League best 7-2 mark while dropping BC to 3-6.
