Game Notes

Game Summary

The Tiger-Cats traveled to Independence Stadium in Shreveport to take on the Pirates in an attempt to solidify their spot in the 1995 playoffs. It seemed, in the first quarter, that Hamilton might dominate the game. WR Larry Thompson got on the score sheet on an unusual play. Steve Taylor threw a 53 yard pass to Kalin Hall who fumbled. Thompson recovered the fumble and took the bail into the end zone from the 2-yard line for the score. K Paul Osbaldiston booted the convert. Osbaldiston put 6 more points on the board in the quarter extending the lead to 13 as his 42 and 14 yard field goal attempts were successful. Shreveport mounted a come back in the second quarter managing to tie the game before half-time. Kicker Bjorn Nittmo hit 45 and 27 yard field goals to open scoring for the Pirates. RB Martin Patton caught a 30 yard pass from B.J. Tolliver for the major score. Nittmo’s convert tied the game. Hamilton took a lead briefly in the third quarter as Osbaldiston missed a 51 yard field goal attempt but scored the single. The rest of the game belonged to Shreveport. Nittmo got things going with a 49 yard field goal midway through the third quarter. At the 3:10 mark of the fourth quarter, Nittmo made good on a 44 yard field goal attempt, his fourth field goal of the game. B.J. Tolliver sealed the victory for the Pirates with a 34 yard pass to Norman Bradford. Nittmo’s convert made the final tally Shreveport 26 over Hamilton 14.
