Beginning with the 1993 Supplemental Draft, the CFL implemented a bid/forfeit system. Teams bid a draft pick in the next year’s amateur draft they are willing to forfeit for the selected player. The team with the highest bid wins the player in the supplemental draft and forfeits the pick bid in the next draft.
