Edmonton’s Eddie Brown scored 3 TDs while teammate Henry “Gizmo” Williams chipped in with 2 more as the hometown Edmonton Eskimos upped their record to 2-1 with a 35-3 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Williams got the Esks on the board early in the 1st quarter hooking up with QB Damon Alien for a 20-yard TD strike. Allen then caught Brown in the open for his 1st TD of the game, a 14-yard pass to make the score 14-0 in favour of the Eskimos after 1 period. The “Giz” electrified the fans 12:08 into the 2nd frame as he took a Brent Matich punt back 89 yards for the TD. Saskatchewan kicker Dave Ridgway added the ’Riders’ only points of the game with a 17-yard FG on the last play of the half to make the score 21-3 in favour of the Eskimos at the half. Eddie Brown accounted for the only scoring of the second half hooking up with Allen on passes of 35 and 9 yards to send the 27,894 in attendance at Commonwealth Stadium home happy.
