Game Summary

The Eskimos ran up a 29-0 lead in the first half and coasted to their second win over the Stampeders this season. Edmonton P Glenn Harper opened the scoring with a single just 1:36 into the contest. Henry “Gizmo” Williams then electrified the crowd with a 104-yard punt return at 9:58. QB Damon Allen took the ball in himself from the 1-yard line to put the Esks ahead 15-0 at the end of the first quarter. In the 2nd, Lucius Floyd rushed 13 yards for a major, before Williams had the crowd on their feet again, this time with an 83-yard punt return for a TD. Down 29-0 heading into the 3rd, Calgary finally got on track as QB Steve Taylor plunged 1 yard for their first TD at 3:50. K Mark McLoughlin added to his league-leading point totals with 2 FGs (22 yards and 25 yards) to make the score 29-13 at the end of the 3rd. The Eskimos racked up 10 more points to start the 4th as K Sean Fleming connected on a 21-yard FG and Michael Soles carried the ball 1 yard for the major. At 12:46 Taylor hooked up with Brian Wiggins for a 13-yard TD, and Wiggins also caught the 2-point convert. The Eskimos will host the Saskatchewan Roughriders in one Western Semi-Final, while the Stampeders return home to face the B.C. Lions in the other Semi-Final game.
