Game Notes

Game Summary

It was an important West Division match-up as the Lions travelled to Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium to take on the Eskimos. The Eskimos were looking to clinch second place in their Division with a win while the Lions looked to clinch a playoff berth. The Lions dominated in the first quarter opening the scoring with a 17-yard TD pass between QB Tracy Ham and SB Sean Graham at 3:06. Graham also returned a blocked punt 50 yards for the major at 11:17. K Lui Passaglia was perfect on both converts pacing BC to 14-0 lead. K Sean Fleming’s 10-yard FG at 3:22 opened the scoring in the second quarter. However, Passaglia’s 40-yard FG at 7:49 re-established BC’s 14-point cushion. Fleming added a 53-yard punting single before Passaglia struck a 42-yard FG with no time remaining on the clock making the score 20-4 BC at the half. Fleming’s 44-yard FG at 4:26 was the only scoring in the third quarter. On the third play of the fourth quarter Allen added to the Lions’ point total by calling his own number and sneaking into the goal area from one yard out. The two-point conversion attempt was good when Allen found SB Al Jackson in the end zone. Passaglia added another FG at 8:22 making the final score, BC 31, Edmonton 7. The win clinched a playoff berth for the surging Lions and brings them to within two points of the Eskimos for second place in the West Division.
